Plenty of things going on at AWC this week while we wait for Spring to finally spring. For more information on any specific event, please click onto the word Calendar on the blue bar above, and then click onto the date of the event in question. Here’s a summary of this week’s activities.

MONDAY, May 20th- Bridge at 11 a.m.

TUESDAY, May 21st- 11 a.m. Handicraft/Patchwork and Mahjong groups meet.

WEDNESDAY – May 22nd- Cansata at 11 a.m.

THURSDAY, May 23rd- Bridge at 11 a.m. and Beginners Bridge at 2 p.m.

FRIDAY, May 24th- Day trip to Alcalá de Henares, meet at Atocha at 10 a.m.
ALSO ON FRIDAY- at 12 noon, Country line dancing at Círculo Baile c/José Abascal, 4 . There is a fée of 9€ for this activity.

SATURDAY, May 25th-at 7,30 p.m. “Liza with a Z” , live entertainment at the Club. See article directly below for details.

The Club will be closed for the San Isidro holiday on Wednesday, May 15th, but there will be plenty going on the rest of the week. WEDNESDAY – May 15th- Club Closed all day for San Isidro Madrid city holiday

Bring and Buy Sale on Monday, May 13th from 10,30-2,00

This Monday our sale will feature lots of household and kitchen items, plus a selection of spring and summer clothing that we’ve just received. And of course, toys, books, shoes and handbags. Make sure you tell your friends about our sale. We open our doors at 10,30 and close at 2 p.m. Drop in to shop, stay to help out if you can. Or come and give us a hand with the post-sale packing up. Hope to see you there!!!

Next Monday, May 13th is our monthly Bring and Buy Sale. Last month we cleaned out all our winter gear, so now we are in the mood for Spring and Summer fashions. All types of clothes are needed (for women, men, children and babies). We also never seem to have enough handbags in stock. Our toys section is looking quite bare, too. And the household linen section is always looking for new things to sell. So please bring in your items for this Members’ Sale, and also try to plan to give us a helping hand this Thursday and/or Friday from 10 a.m- 4 p.m. for the Set Up, or next Monday for the Sale itself from 10,30 a.m- 2 p.m. or for packing up from 2 p.m. on. Tell your friends about the Sale, they are welcome to shop and to donate items.

AWC will hit the ground running after the long weekend, with plenty of activities lined up for this week. Here’s a summary of our menu of activities for this week.

MONDAY, MAY 6TH- at 1,30 Mexican Pot Luck Lunch to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo holiday. Sign up at the Club, call 91- 457-1108.
ALSO ON MONDAY- Bridge at 11 a.m. And visit to AWC Member Jaffa Gross' sculpture exhibit from 4-6 p.m.

TUESDAY, MAY 7TH- Handicrafts/Patchwork and Mahjong Groups meet at 11 a.m.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 8TH- Canasta at 11 a.m.
ALSO ON WEDNESDAY- Extra Bridge session at 11 a.m.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, MAY 9TH AND 10TH- Bring and Buy set up from 10,30-4 p.m. This month we’re having a regular Members' Sale, so please bring in your items and your helping hands.

FRIDAY, MAY 10TH - Country Line Dancing at 12 noon
ALSO ON FRIDAY- join the AWC Group going to see the Madrid Players perform “Steel Magnolias” at 8 p.m. Possibility of discount rate.

Bulletin Arrival, AWC Activities for Week of April 29th-May 3rd

The May Bulletin has arrived, so let Nancy know if you’ll be picking up your copy in person so we can save on postage. The Club will be closed for the official holidays in Madrid, May 1st and 2nd, (Wednesday and Thursday). But the Club will be open the rest of the days. The following activities are planned:

Monday, April 29th- Bridge at 11 a.m.

Tuesday, April 30th- Handicrafts/Patchwork and Mahjong Groups meet at 11 a.m.
ALSO ON TUESDAY: AWC Annual General Meeting at 12,30. For details see the article directly below.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 1st and 2nd, Clubhouse closed for official holidays.

Friday, May 3rd- Country Line Dancing at 12 noon at Círculo de Baile on c/ José Abascal, 4 (Metro Canal). There is a fee of 9€ for this activity.

AWC Annual General Meeting, Tuesday April 30th at 12,30

The AWC Annual General Meeting will be held on April 30, 2013 at 12:30PM. All AWC members are welcome to attend. The Nominating Committee will list its slate of officers for the upcoming year. But more importantly, we are presenting two amendments that in the case they are approved, will make for important changes in our Constitution and By-Laws. Members will have already received information on the proposed changes through a Club email (April 16th), or by post. If you have not received this information, contact the Club to receive the text of the proposed amendments or for any questions you may have.

There are plenty of diverse events scheduled at AWC for the week of April 22nd-26th, everything from Art visits to Wine Tasting! For sign up and further information ring the Club at 91-457-1108. For this week we have planned:

MONDAY- April 22nd- Bridge at 11 a.m.

TUESDAY April 23rd at 11 a.m. Handicraft/Patchwork and Mahjong groups meet.

WEDNESDAY April 24th - at 10,45 a.m. meet inside the gates at the Thyssen Museum to see the Impressionist collection. Stay on for lunch if you’d like. The Tulip Visit has been cancelled. Sign up with Nancy so the ladies know to wait for you.
ALSO ON WEDNESDAY- Canasta at 11 am.

THURSDAY April 25th at 10 a.m. Bridge at 11 a.m.
ALSO ON THURSDAY AT 7,30 p.m.- “Downstairs at the Club I”, Wine Tasting and Tapas (see article below “Downstairs at the Club Event”).
