From the Clubhouse

Nancy would like to mention here our appreciation and recognition of the many members who regularly and constantly bring in the sweet and savoury homemade treats we offer at our Social Meetings and Tapas Evenings: Tammy Schafer, Henie Weibel, Heather Hackett, Rosemary Hoogesteger, Peggy de la Morena, Megan Foreman. We would like to remind and encourage others to share their favourite recipes with us on these occasions. Your time, efforts and generosity are always appreciated and enjoyed by all who attend these Clubhouse Events.

A.G. Iglesias (married to AWC member Jayne Iglesias) was a professor at both the University of Alcalá, Madrid, Spain, and at Umeå University, Sweden, until his early retirement in 2007. Since then, this former Fullbright fellow at a US university, has taken up his old devotion for painting full time. At the age of sixteen he won his first prize at a contest at Teacher Training School and, as time allowed him, he had been turning out an occasional portrait or landscape, for his friends’ and acquaintances’ collections, mainly. Lately, free from academic responsibilities, he has been able to participate in several collectives and has been selected for a couple of runner-up prize award finals. Hopefully you will enjoy the exhibition, which opened October 15 at the AWC Clubhouse, entirely based on landscapes from his Swedish period. A.G. Iglesias is a current member of the Asociación Española de Pintores y Escultores.

BRIDGE players will hold their annual Christmas party after playing bridge on the morning of Thursday, DECEMBER 4th.
Please sign up with Nancy or call the club if you plan to attend. We will eat at the Club de Tenis Chamartín.

Handicrafts/Patchwork – Crafters & Sewers needed! The Tuesday morning women are busy preparing different patterns and ideas for the Holiday Bazaar. As in the past, we have ready to sew EASY kits at the Clubhouse, so please pick up a few to do at your leisure. Evelyn Perez will be glad to explain if you are worried or wondering! Call Nancy at the Clubhouse or Evelyn in the evening, 91 405 1500.
