Bring and Buy Sale, March 9th Donations and Volunteers Welcome

in

Our March 9th Bring and Buy Sale (10,30-2) will be our last sale of the winter season. It will be an All Donations 50% Off Marked Prices Sale. After Easter we will only be looking for spring and summer clothing. Our limited storage space solely allows us to pack away clothing in season. So please take advantage to clean out all your cupboards and closets and bring your gently worn winter clothing and all your other donations of toys, household gadgets and linens, shoes, jewelry, accessories, handbags, etc. to the Clubhouse any day from 10-4. You can even bring things in on the day of the Sale itself. We will be setting up for the March Sale on Thursday and Friday, March 5th and 6th from 11 a.m. until about 4 p.m. It goes without saying that anyone, AWC member or not, is welcome to donate items to our Bring and Buy. Our monthly Bring and Buy Sale provides us with funds for Club overhead costs and for our charitable causes. We´d likewise appreciate all volunteers possible for the set up and the sales day. The more helping hands we have, the faster we can finish our chores. No heavy work involved if you´re not up to it.

Marjorie Kanter Holds "Journal Keeping Workshop"

in

Join writer Marjorie Kanter to explore journal keeping -- explore or build a habit, collect your experiences and exercise your creativity and writing. This talk-workshop is an introduction to process-oriented journal keeping. Using words and images, she will focus on observing, gathering, playing with, and recording experiences. Are you new to Madrid? Or have you been around for some time? We will visit memory lane and also what's going on right here and now. Do you want to be sure to record what you see and feel -- keep a record for yourself, or to share with your family and friends? We will consider opening up the mind and getting your flow going. Meant for both those who already keep a journal and those new to the experience. Marjorie will share her experiences with journal keeping as the first step in her becoming a writer. Why keep a journal? How do you start? What do you do with it? How do you keep it going? What do you put in it? We´ll be starting off with coffee at 11 a.m. and then going downstairs to hear Marjorie. For more information on Marjorie's writing career, click onto this event under the word "Calendar" on the blue bar at the top of this page.

Javier Vasallo Presents "Entre Claquetas"

in

We are honored to have an evening with Javier Vasallo, the husband of long-time AWC member, Debby Vasallo. Javier has written a book recounting his experiences while head of Buena Vista International film distribution company. Almost twenty years with Disney gave him ample provi-sions to delight us with filming anecdotes, encounters with actors, movie promotions, and premieres. It has been a great critical success since its presentation at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Javier will give an informal talk about the book followed by a question and answer period, plus book signing for those interested. To enliven our evening, we will be doing our Wine and Tapas format, so PLEASE BRING TAPAS AND A BOTTLE OF WINE. Don't forget to sign up with Nancy at the clubhouse or by phone for this memorable occasion! Spouses, partners and friends are welcome to join us. Starting time for this evening event will be 7,30 p.m.
